About The Winery
Three Hills Winery (Tre Colline, in Italian) is a family-owned winery on Highland Valley Road in Ramona, in the Ramona Valley AVA. Owners and winemakers Tobias and Carrie Panek make their wines in an Italian style, lighter and fruit-forward, aged 18 to 36 months in French oak chosen so the barrel does not overpower the grape. The winery sits about 45 minutes from downtown San Diego, near Mt. Woodson and Potato Chip Rock.
Good to know before you go: Three Hills has shifted to a wholesale and wine-club model rather than a traditional walk-in tasting room. Its wine club offers members discounts of 40 to 50 percent with free local shipping and no membership fee, with two releases a year. If you want to taste on site, check the winery's current status first rather than assuming regular weekend hours.
Nearby: Highland Valley Road is one of the best wine drives in the county. Sunrise Vineyards is next door, and Cordiano Winery and Mia Marie Vineyards are a few minutes west toward Escondido. Plan the loop with our Wine Tasting Day Trip Builder.
