Carruth Cellars Liberty Station is the flagship tasting room of San Diego's pioneering urban winery, located in the beautifully restored Liberty Station complex in Point Loma. The outdoor winegarden setting features a cheese shop, communal tables, and a relaxed patio atmosphere that makes it one of the most popular wine destinations in the city. Carruth Cellars sources premium California fruit and produces all wines on-site in San Diego.
This is an urban tasting room, not a vineyard visit — and that’s the appeal. Set in Liberty Station’s walkable Arts District, Carruth’s winegarden centers on a tree-shaded outdoor patio with communal tables, string lights, and a cheese shop on site. It’s social, lively, and well-suited to groups, dates, and casual afternoons. Order a flight or a glass and pair it with a cheese or charcuterie board; you can also bring food in from nearby Liberty Public Market. Dogs are welcome on the patio, and the vibe stays relaxed even when it’s busy. Evenings and weekends fill up, so come earlier for a table or expect a short wait. No reservation needed for small groups. With free parking across Liberty Station and plenty to do nearby, it’s an easy stop to build a longer outing around.
