Blue Door Winery is an in-town Julian tasting room on B Street that brings estate wines directly into the heart of this beloved mountain community, giving visitors a convenient way to taste quality Julian-area wines without the drive to outlying estates. The blue door that gives the winery its name is both a literal entrance and a metaphor for stepping into something worth discovering.

Urban winery model — grapes sourced from Santa Barbara, Paso Robles, Temecula, Escondido, and Central Coast California vineyards. Production at San Diego urban winery and satellite tasting room in Julian's historic livery stable building.
Blue Door Winery began in 2006 when Marc Hashagen and a friend bought 100 pounds of grapes, made 26 bottles, and were hooked. By 2007 they rented a truck, bought three tons, and Blue Door was born. Named after a painting by Marc's mother Trudy Kenyon. The winery uses unfiltered winemaking inspired by Robert Mondavi — egg whites and sea salt for natural clarification. Specializes in French and Italian red varietals including Nebbiolo, Super Tuscan, Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Sangria, and Cabernet Franc. Julian tasting room set in the town's historic old livery stables with big barn doors and exposed ceilings. Open 7 days a week in Julian noon–5pm.
Blue Door Winery hosts private events, birthday parties, retirements, and wedding rehearsals at their production winery and Julian tasting room. Barrel tasting events and hands-on winery experiences available at the San Diego production facility. Contact thebluedoorwinery.com for private event details and availability.
