Davanti Enoteca opened in 2011 in the heart of Little Italy at 1655 India Street — bringing restaurateur Scott Harris's vision of rustic Italian wine bar culture to San Diego. After traveling across the country and Italy researching how the best chefs defined rustic Italian cuisine, Harris and the team from Francesca's Restaurants in Chicago created a space that celebrates the conviviality of the Italian table. The wine list is Italian-forward with well-curated imports including Brunello di Montalcino, Super Tuscan, and regional selections — plus a broad selection of California wines. The food program is built for sharing — small plates, charcuterie, fresh pasta, grilled octopus, branzino, and perfectly executed risotto that rivals Italian-trained kitchens. The large back patio is one of Little Italy's best alfresco dining experiences.
