Domaine Artefact Vineyard & Winery is an award-winning Rhône-style winery on Highland Valley Road in Escondido, founded by Mark and Lynn, who met as undergraduates at UCLA. Mark spent years as a fisheries biologist and teacher before turning to wine, and the couple built Domaine Artefact around the Rhône varieties that thrive in San Diego County's warm, dry hills.
What to expect: a relaxed, family-friendly tasting in the scenic Highland Valley hills, open Thursday and Friday afternoons and weekends from noon to 7 pm.
