About The Winery

La Finquita Winery & Vineyard, whose name means "the little farm," is an eight-acre boutique winery on Vista Ramona Road in the Ramona Valley AVA. The property was first developed in 1988 and has been owned since 2013 by Charlie and Jess Koehler, who were among the youngest winery owners in San Diego County when they took it on. The vineyard grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Syrah, and the winery pours a mix of reds, whites and dessert wines.

What to expect: a small, personal tasting with views over the vineyard and across the Ramona Valley toward San Diego Country Estates. Red-tailed hawks are a regular sight overhead, and the owners tend to be the ones pouring. It is the kind of place that rewards slowing down rather than rushing to the next stop.

Nearby: La Finquita is on the east side of Ramona, a few minutes from Turtle Rock Ridge and Milagro Winery. Our Ramona Valley wine trail guide covers the whole valley, and the Wine Tasting Day Trip Builder will route the day for you.
